Here’s some production shots from the show taken by Robert Day.
Coventry City FC legends Steve Ogrizovic, Trevor Peake and Brian Burrows came to see We Love You City last night. This picture shows them with David Shortland, the Chairman of the Belgrade Theatre’s Board of Directors.
We’ll be uploading some interveiw footage shortly, so check back to see what they thought of the show.
We spoke to John Sillett, the Manager of CCFC when they won the 1987 FA Cup, to hear what he thought of the show. Find out how well the play scores from the man who knows best!
We spoke to some audience members after they watched We Love You City to find out what they thought of the show. Listen to their views here!
So the play’s kicked off, and after opening night the legendary Cyrille Regis joined in with a rousing chorus of We Love You City in the lobby.
That the show is alright with Mr Regis is a big boost for the cast.
Here’s to a great run. (Thanks to Arnim for the pic).

So they always say that the rehearsals mirror the play itself, and We Love You City is no exception.
Our right back, the very excellent Mark Worth got a nasty knock and displaced a clavicle (a technical term for a bit of the shoulder - we all got a bit queasy at the details at this point). It put him out of the show, a big disappointment for us and him.
It all felt a bit like we’d gone one nil down, just like the mighty Cov team in 87. However, inspired by their fighting spirit, we brought Ged off the bench and he slipped into defense seamlessly, a bit of reworking and he’s making the position his own. Rehearsals continue apace.
Come on, lads!

This picture is of Keith Houchen’s spectacular diving header which set Coventry on the road to victory in the 1987 FA Cup final and earned him the BBC Match of the Day’s Goal of the Season Award. It also made a great photograph!
As you can see, we’ve had some great fun trying to recreate this legendary photo ourselves. Our Communciations Manager even got his kittens involved!
Why don’t you have a go too? You can post your pictures here on the blog, on our facebook page or send them to us via twitter (@belgradetheatre), but remember to use the #WLYC hastag!
